Steel framing is lighter in weight and much stronger than wood. Steel is less affected by serious weather conditions and especially earthquakes. The method used to attach the building to a standard poured foundation makes it almost impossible to seperate during trecherous weather. The strength of steel incorporates a much wider variety of design with a flexibility for more open spaces, longer lengths for wall insulation and more success on softer soil without designing huge, expensive oversized footings.
