I’m going to do a synopsis of the last five years and some new information, too. There is always a market for athletes that make people rich. No, not necessarily money but where the enjoyment outweighs the cost (big or small). See previous home page on ‘cell memory’. The happiness of the experience with your pet transposes to your life. People get elation in this industry many ways. When I was young I sold a horse that did lessons for the gal for almost twenty years and she was dearly loved for it. She tried to retire her three times and she was not a happy camper. She loved the children, she showing them how it was done and how to do it…it was her job, she had a beloved purpose. That kind of financial satisfaction to my friend (that appy mare never had a bad day) is the feeling over a long period of time and she told me several times, equal to an ‘Open Win’. I’ve had people describe a great day on their pet is like a Gold Medal, the first time your baby looks at you, or finding the love of your life. These ‘elated moments’ are numerous in the equine industry, even after a normal daily workout. The ‘everyday’ equines bring into your life is a fantastic experience. The desire to tend to their horse in the morning has given more than one old cowpoke another day in the Garden of Eden. It is certainly a rainbow at the end of a long day. This is the way it is all over the world. If dogs are from heaven, horses are from Venus cause we sure love them and want them in our lives. I got the word out and you should, too. People should come from South America, Mexico, Europe and Spain to buy warmbloods here the USA . Our prices are great and the equines are as nice as Europe. Heck, we need the money and give them excellent minerals, good work ethic and we take phenomenal care of them. (see previous home page on mineral challenges of European horses). We’re usually looking to give them a day off and in Europe they’re waiting for the weather to break to work them. Europe has had a relatively mild winter (bone chilling cold and rained the whole time I was there in March), and I found about five out of 20 that are ‘our kinda horses’. They were nicely trained up for five year olds due to the nice winter but then the Euro bites ya in the neck, dang! Good athletes here in America, good prices, too. Synopsis from home page (Golly knows when) Here is what ‘sound’ is to me. Athlete has a current vet, previous recent vet, been vetted numerous times sound or known personally to be sound (like a mare in full training for seven years and never had to have a day off and has two gorgeous previous vets). This would include one or two owners, extreme participation in a discipline, or in full training and worked hard for over eight or nine months or showing several seasons totally sound. Also, there is sound for a ‘reason’. Many high level athletes are sound because they have maintenance on their hocks or occasionally see a chiropractor or acupuncture specialist and use mineral supplements or a special diet. While several minor considerations should not preclude the horse vetting for the sport intended…all of this type of thing should be mentioned. I recommend a home flex test on any horse being purchased or sold. This will generally tell you if something major is showing up. There is a modicum of luck involved but that’s in any industry. I had a beautiful five year old import fall over, roll around in the gravel, get up bleeding and have to be nurtured and STILL vet sound. You give me good luck. The owners are so very honest about their horses and people looking for an honest deal know when they get it. Trainers are my business. They are so appreciative to send people to me..’go see Louisa, she has a horse for you or she doesn’t’. Our ‘cell memory’ is the living example of knowing horses will be in our lives. They’re here and they’ll stay here; this is where they belong. How horses have impacted the human life has changed but thick or thin, flush or fat, they’ve always been there for us. Only a horse person can know the hum of joy in your heart when you call their name and they come for a hug. Long time friends know I sold quarter horses and trail horses for many years (made more money, too) and the vet was nearly so harrowing. My family had some of the first Elite Hannoverians in the states and it’s just progressed from there. I’ll do some more another time. You all know I got my contractor’s license from the last home page and working in the housing industry with light gage steel framing. Well, I’m not busy enough because I wrote a smokin’ screenplay, a Western that is 80% factual and I can’t believe no one has ever done it. That took me 6 months. I just finished ANOTHER one that took me six weeks and its set 1865, two weeks before Sherman’s march south and ends two weeks after he returns. It’s a ‘three quell’.. The stories come out like a waterfall, I can’t stop it. Maybe someday you’ll be able to tell people you knew me when….. Louisa
